كيف نعتصم بالله؟
How do we seek refuge in (God)Allah?
الاعتصام بالله هو الاستمساك القوي بعهده ودينه، وهو اللجوء إليه سبحانه في كل شأن من شؤون الحياة.
Holding fast to God is holding fast to His covenant and religion, and it is turning to Him, the Almighty, in every matter of life.
كيف نعتصم بالله؟
How to Hold Fast to Allah?
التمسك بالقرآن والسنة: هو الحبل المتين الذي يربطنا بالله، فكلما زاد علمك بهما وتطبيقك لهما، زاد اعتصامك.
إخلاص الدعاء واللجوء: أن تيقن أن النفع والضر بيد الله وحده، فتفر إليه في أزماتك وتشكر في رخائك.
التوكل الكامل: الاعتماد بالقلب على الله مع الأخذ بالأسباب، فالمعتصم بالله لا يخشى تقلبات الدنيا.
الصحبة الصالحة: الالتفاف حول من يذكرونك بالله، فالمؤمن للمؤمن كالبنيان المرصوص يشد بعضه بعضاً.
تجديد التوبة: الاعتصام يتطلب قلباً نظيفاً، لذا فإن الاستغفار الدائم يقوي صلتك بالله ويحميك من زلل النفس.
Adhering to the Quran and Sunnah: These are the strong ropes that connect us to Allah. The more you learn and apply them, the stronger your hold becomes.
Sincerity in Supplication (Dua): Having the certainty that benefit and harm are in Allah's hands alone, fleeing to Him in times of crisis and thanking Him in times of ease.
Complete Trust (Tawakkul): Relying with your heart on Allah while taking the necessary practical steps. One who holds fast to Allah does not fear the fluctuations of the world.
Righteous Companionship: Surrounding yourself with those who remind you of Allah; believers are like a solid structure, each part strengthening the other.
Renewing Repentance (Tawbah): Holding fast requires a pure heart. Constant seeking of forgiveness strengthens your connection with Allah and protects you from the slips of the soul.
ثمرة الاعتصام:
The Fruit of Holding Fast:
قال تعالى: {وَمَن يَعْتَصِم بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ هُدِيَ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ}
(God )Allha Almighty in the Quran says: "And whoever holds firmly to Allah has [already] been guided to a straight path." (Al-Imran: 101)
دعاء الثبات والاعتصام:
(Dua)supplication for Firmness and Holding Fast:
عن شهر بن حوشب قال: قلت لأم سلمة: يا أم المؤمنين، ما كان أكثر دعاء رسول الله ﷺ إذا كان عندك؟ قالت: كان أكثر دعائه:
"يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ، ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ"
Shahr bin Hawshab said: I asked Umm Salamah (the Prophet's wife): "O Mother of the Believers, what was the supplication that the Messenger of Allah(PBUH)made most often when he was with you?" She said: "The supplication he made most often was:
"Ya Muqallibal-qulub, thabbit qalbi 'ala dinik"
(O Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion)
دعاء آخر جامع:
Another Comprehensive (Dua)supplication:
هذا الدعاء علمه النبي ﷺ لمعاذ بن جبل ليقوله دبر كل صلاة:
عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ رضي الله عنه، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ، وَقَالَ:
"يَا مُعَاذُ، وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ، وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ" فَقَالَ: "أُوصِيكَ يَا مُعَاذُ لَا تَدَعَنَّ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ تَقُولُ: اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ، وَشُكْرِكَ، وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ".
This (Dua)supplication was taught by the Prophet (PBUH) to Mu'adh bin Jabal to recite after every prayer:
Narrated by Mu'adh bin Jabal (May Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) took my hand and said:
"O Mu'adh, by Allah, I love you! By Allah, I love you!" Then he said: "I advise you, O Mu'adh, never to leave off saying at the end of every prayer: O Allah, help me to remember You, to give thanks to You, and to worship You in the best way."
لماذا هذه الأدعية؟
Why these Duas?
لأن القلب سمي قلباً لتقلبـه، والاعتصام بالله يحتاج إلى توفيق مستمر منه سبحانه.
Because the heart (Qalb in Arabic) is named so due to its constant turning/changing (Taqallub), and holding fast to Allah requires continuous success and strength from Him.

تخيل عظمة هذا الموقف؛ النبي ﷺ يمسك يد صاحبه ويخبره بحبه له، ثم يعطيه "أثمن هدية" وهي هذا الدعاء. لذا، عندما تقوله، استشعر أنك تنفذ وصية نبوية مغلفة بالحب.
Imagine the beauty of this moment: the Prophet (PBUH) holding his companion's hand, telling him he loves him, and then giving him this "precious gift." When you say it, feel that you are following a prophetic advice wrapped in love.
